Power Tags

Power Tags

Power Tags are the tags Wise SCADA uses to communicate with physical devices in the field (PLC, HMI, Energy Analyzer, Drive, etc.).
Rule of Thumb: If you are reading a tag’s value from a PLC or writing to a PLC, it is a Power Tag.

Licensing and Power Tag Concept

Wise SCADA’s licensing model is based on the number of Power Tags used.

  • Internal Tags: Free of charge.
  • PLC Tags: All tags read from or written via a PLC are considered Power Tags.
  • String Tags: For STRING type tags, every four bytes count as one tag.
  • Other Types: All other data types are calculated as one tag, regardless of their byte length.

Note: Visit the Licensing Operations page for detailed information.
